Senior Capstone in Applied Sociology

Senior Capstone in Applied Sociology

Soc 409 has been replaced by Soc 403 as a program requirement in the new Soc/Social Welfare concentration (see checksheet). The two main changes are that: It’s now a 5-credit course (not variable credit), and it includes an applied research component. In other words, you will be doing some sort of research project related to your practicum experience.

Prerequisites

First, this is the option for those pursuing a career in the field of social welfare. Students seeking to do the capstone need to have senior standing (at the time of the capstone), taken Soc 420, and spoken with faculty about taking 1-2 credits of Soc 407 in the term prior to develop a plan and secure a field placement.
